Like their long-haul brethren, regional LTL carriers are also enjoying one of the best markets the sector has ever witnessed.
According to our freight transportation correspondent John D. Schulz, freight volumes in the regional market will continue to keep pace with the continued increase in e-commerce orders.
“It has become crystal clear that e-commerce has changed the regional LTL market dynamics, perhaps permanently,” says Schulz. “Analysts tell us that they’re closely watching as the parcel players continue to move the heavier boxes to LTL simply because they’re overwhelmed by e-commerce freight.”
According to the readers of Logistics Management, the 11 players listed have found a way to manage the evolving e-commerce crunch to deliver exceptional service in the regional markets during the past year.
And, a special mention of Lynden Transport’s 50.89 weighted average in the West as well was Averitt Express’ 50.62 in the South/South Central region.
These were two top scores in what is one of the most challenging categories in the Quest for Quality Awards.
