TGW Logistics Group GmbH today announced its Quba range of mobile robots for transporting totes, cartons, and pallets. The Marchtrenk, Austria-based company said they can handle a wide range of tasks, including supplying packing or returns workstations, as well as automatic palletizing and depalletizing stations.
“Mobile robots are a key technology for high-performance, flexible, and future-proof material handling operations,” stated Harald Schröpf, CEO of TGW Logistics Group. “By expanding our range in the area of driverless transport systems, TGW now offers a full package of high-performance door-to-door solutions that can also be integrated seamlessly into existing systems, both on a software and on a mechatronic level.”
With more than 50 years of experience, TGW designs, manufactures, implements, and maintains fulfillment systems for brands such as Urban Outfitters, the Gap, and TVH.
The company, whose U.S. subsidiary is in Grand Rapids, Mich., also has offices in Europe and China and employs more than 4,400 people worldwide. In the 2021/22 fiscal year, the foundation-owned TGW generated a revenue of $924 million (U.S.).
TGW looks for robots to meet market demand
TGW Logistics Group said it is a leading systems integrator of warehouse automation. The business said it approached mobile robotics from a holistic and systematic perspective.
As a result, Quba is designed to address many current supply chain challenges, including the increasingly difficult search for new employees, rapidly changing consumer behavior, and the dynamic development of e-commerce, said TGW.
The Quba family includes autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). TGW added that its intelligent software handles fleet management and controls the robots both individually and as a network.
Engelbert Strauss, Thermoplan rely on TGW robots
The advantages afforded by the Quba family have won over not only Swiss coffee machine manufacturer Thermoplan, but also workwear specialist Engelbert Strauss, said TGW.
For over a year now, mobile robots have been supplying goods to workstations at the Engelbert Strauss CI Factory in Schlüchtern, Germany.
The fashion company also uses TGW systems in its distribution center in Biebergemünd, Germany. There, 26 Quba robots handle the autonomous transport of totes to returns workstations.
SAFELOG partners with TGW
SAFELOG GmbH and TGW Logistics Group recently signed a strategic partnership agreement to foster their close collaboration. SAFELOG said its AGVs are already in use at many customer locations.
The robots have proven their reliability in the automotive industry, machining, production, or warehouse fulfillment operations, said the German company. Users benefit from scalable automation, high availability, and short implementation times, it added.
