New video showcases the latest robot model’s moves.

Tesla is showing off progress on its prototype humanoid robot named Optimus Gen 2 in a new video that shows the robot doing squats and picking up an egg.

In its first public demonstration of Optimus last year, the robot appeared somewhat unsteady on its feet, according to reports, and after doing a bit of waving and lifting its legs, the robot slumped over. In the latest demo video, the newer version of Optimus walks the cybertruck factory, squats in a gym, shows off some hand movements, and picks up an egg. The grand finale is a brief segment with two Optimus robots showing off their dance moves.

The general-purpose, bi-pedal humanoid robot is billed as being capable of performing tasks that are unsafe, repetitive, or boring. The Gen 2 robot features Tesla-designed actuators and sensors, a 2-DoF actuated neck, and is capable of walking 30% faster than previous models, Tesla claimed in the video.

Torque sensing, human foot geometry, and articulated toe sections aid in walking. There’s a 10k weight reduction from prior models, Tesla said, and the robot features improved balance and full-body control. Optimus Gen 2 also is equipped with brand new hands that are faster and can boast 11-DoF for more delicate object manipulation.
