Mobile robot company Resgreen Group announced this week it is testing a new brushless motor for its PullBuddy Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV). The brushless motor has a higher torque compared to the currently used brushed motor, which will lead to better performance and increased horsepower, the company said. In addition, the new motor requires less maintenance.
The news comes a little over a month after Resgreen announced that it has started large-scale production of its PullBuddy fleet.
Township, Mich.-based RGGI claims to be a leading developer of AMRs and AGVs, noting that its engineers have years of experience in the material handling and robotics industries.
The PullBuddy is less than 12 inches in height and can move loads up to 2,000 lb. at 200 feet a minute, the company said. The AGV uses a pop-up pin to automatically connect and disconnect from LHFs for 24/7 operation. The vehicle can be equipped with a variety of accessories such as scissor lifts, roller conveyors, and customized carts to work in applications from assembly to transporting goods in a warehouse.
The company’s other products include the LilBuddy AMR and its traffic control and monitoring software BotWay. Last month, the company announced it was floor testing for preproduction of the LilBuddy AMR.
“Our engineering team is constantly looking for ways to improve our products, making them easier to manufacture, install and service for our customers,” said Parsh Patel, CEO at RGGI. “Our focus is finding next-generation technologies that streamline processes and increase productivity.”
Taking into account supply chain challenges
Considering supply chain shortages, RGGI said a key consideration for choosing the brushless system was making sure to go with a provider who had a solid supply of product.
“As the supply chain crisis continues, it’s important to be flexible and diligent in terms of finding new suppliers and managing your inventory,” said Sarah Carlson, vice president of marketing Communications at RGGI. “We want to ensure our products are available to our customers when they need them and not months down the road.”
RGGI said it also provides consulting services including backend operational oversight, material handling assessment, work-flow analysis, and steady state yield management using artificial intelligence, technology and management systems.
The global market for Automated Guided Vehicles is estimated to reach $4 billion by 2025 at a compound annual growth rate of 20.2%, according to BCC Research.
