Exotec SAS has gained recognition for its development of supply chain systems. Yesterday, its Tokyo-based subsidiary, Exotec Nihon Co., announced that Alps Logistics Co. will use the Skypod goods-to-person system in a new warehouse in Nagoya, Japan.
The Croix, France-based company also said today that it has won the 2023 MVP Excellence Award in the Technology & Solution category award from Manhattan Associates. It was recognized for its work with Alliance Automotive Group France, France’s largest independent distributor of truck and automotive parts.
“Being recognized by one of the world's foremost supply chain solution providers is a strong validation of our work,” stated Arthur Bellamy, CRO of Exotec. “It attests to the considerable momentum we're building globally. But most importantly, it highlights the trust placed in our solutions by some of the world's most innovative companies, such as Alliance Automotive Group.”
Skypod aims high with robots, services
As the logistics industry faces challenges including labor shortages and sustainability goals, systems such as Skypod can play a key role in keeping global supply chains running, said Exotec, whose North American headquarters are in Atlanta. The company said it combines robotics hardware and software to help warehouses improve efficiency, add resilience, and improve working conditions.
Skypod includes robots that can reach a height of 12 m (39 ft.) to enable high-density inventory storage. The goods-to-person system automates manual physically intensive tasks and can reduce order-fulfillment times, Exotec claimed.
In addition, the company offers integration services, from pre-system consultation to continuous post-implementation maintenance.
More than 30 brands, including Carrefour, Decathlon, Gap, and Uniqlo, use Exotec's technology to improve their operations and profitably navigate rapid shifts in business models and customer expectations, said the company.
Exotec expands in Japan
Yokohama, Japan-based Alps Logistics provides transportation, storage, import/export, and product distribution services worldwide. It mainly serves electronic components companies that require specialized material handling techniques, said Exotec.
The company said it supports its customers’ production and logistics by reducing excess inventory and cutting lead times. Alps Logistics said it expects its partnership with Exotec to further improve the quality of services that it offers customers in Japan.
“We have decided to install Exotec’s Skypod system in our new warehouse in Nagoya, which is currently under construction,” said Koji Fukiyama, senior vice president and general manager of Alps Logistics. “We expect the Skypod system to significantly improve the efficiency of our warehouse operations by automating the transfer of goods between inbound and outbound areas, as well as storing and retrieving goods.”
The partnership will help combine our deep expertise in logistics with Exotec’s experience of building next-generation warehouse facilities, ultimately creating even more value for our customers,” Fukiyama said.
Ryu Tatewaki, managing director of Exotec Nihon, added: “Leveraging the in-depth logistics expertise of Alps Logistics, together with our advanced robotic automation solutions, we aim to significantly enhance warehouse operational efficiency. This collaboration is set to play a pivotal role in propelling Alps Logistics’ business growth.”
