Doosan Robotics Inc. today announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Industrial Automation Supply, which will resell its M, H, and A-SERIES collaborative robots across the U.S. Northeast.
“Strategic partnerships are the key to success for Doosan Robotics, and with the addition of IAS, we are continuing to expand our reach across the U.S.,” said Alex, Lee, general manager of Doosan Robotics Americas. “We look forward to partnering with IAS and a successful future together.”
Established in 1896, Doosan Group has 25 affiliates and 114 global entities worldwide, generating a revenue of $15 billion (U.S.) in 2020. The Seoul, South Korea-based group founded Doosan Robotics in 2015. The company said it makes cobots and service robots for the next generation of manufacturing.
Doosan develops three cobot lines
Doosan Robotics' four M-SERIES collaborative robots are equipped with six torque sensors in every joint. The company said they enable customers to experience advanced cobots with industry-leading safety and human-level dexterity.
The M-SERIES cobots have been particularly popular in Germany and the U.S. because of their versatility, as well as their intuitive and easy application, said Doosan. The models have a working radius of 900 to 1,700 mm (35.4 to 66.9 in.) and a load capacity of 6 to 15 kg (13.2 to 33.1 lb.).
Doosan's H-SERIES lineup boasts the highest payload for a range of cobot applications. The robot arms in this series offer payload capacities of 20 kg (44 lb.) and 25 kg (55.1 lb.) with reach of 1,700 mm (66.9 in.) and 1,500 mm (59 in.), respectively.
Introduced in 2019, the A-SERIES cobots are the industry's fastest, claimed Doosan. With an average speed 10% faster than competitors' products and an affordable price, the A-SERIES in unparalleled in return on investment (ROI), said the company. The A-SERIES includes four separate models: the A0509, A0509s, A0912, and A0912s.
Doosan Robotics said it is among the top five robotics makers in the world, and the No. 1 manufacturer in South Korea. With the release of the A-SERIES, the company said it has the largest cobot lineup in the industry.
In January, Doosan raised $33.7 million and exhibited the NINA cobot at CES 2022. At this year's Automate show, Doosan recently announced its American expansion, with headquarters in Plano, Texas.
IAS to distribute cobots in the U.S.
Industrial Automation Supply (IAS) has served original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the Northeast since 1993. The Portland, Maine-based company distributes electrical controls and automation components.
IAS is New England's only Phoenix Contact Automation Elite Distribution Partner. The company said it “understands the challenges its customers face in a way online distributors and catalog houses can’t. This has made Industrial Automation Supply 'the go-to distributor' of industry-leading components throughout New England and the Northeast.”
In 2017, IAS expanded its services into production with the Systems Group, its panel-production arm, which has led to the opening of a second location in Scarborough, Maine.
“We are extremely excited about our partnership with Doosan,” said Chris LeBel, president of IAS. “The collaborative robot market in the United States is growing and evolving every day, and Doosan is a truly special partner with so much to offer in the ever-expanding realm of collaborative robotics.”
