Mobile Industrial Robots, or MiR, will be hosting an online webinar tomorrow that will focus on mobile robots and tuggers. During the event titled “AMRs to replace manual tuggers” MiR and its partners in the U.K., RARUK Automation, Handling Concepts, and Sorion Electronics will speak on intralogistics and how customers can optimize their material transportation tasks – with a fast return on investment. “If you are you currently using manual tuggers in your facility, you should explore the alternatives. You could definitely benefit from our event, if you are interested in optimizing your internal logistics but not sure where to…

…strong, flexible, and resilient operations to meet peak demand. Robots can help answer the call in response to labor shortages and as the underlying technologies powering these autonomous systems continue to improve. Last month, the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) reported that more than half a million robots were sold globally last year. Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are being used for a variety of tasks, and suppliers say they see an increased interest in more flexible systems that can carry higher payloads and adapt to changing workflows. Recession worries loom over industry OTTO Motors CEO Matthew Rendall told Robotics 24/7…

Sales of professional service robots rose 37% in 2021, according to the International Federation of Robotics, or IFR. By region, the strongest growth came from Europe with a market share of 38% followed by North America with 32% and Asia with 30%. Sales of new consumer service robots grew by 9%, according to IFR’s “World Robotics 2022—Service Robots.” “Service robots for professional use are extremely diverse,” said IFR President Marina Bill. “They are usually designed to perform a specific task and can be found in warehouses, in hospitals and airports or even helping on dairy farms automatically milking cows.” Top…

The International Federation of Robotics’ World Robotics Report found that an all-time high of 517,385 new industrial robots were installed in 2021 in factories around the world. This represents a growth rate of 31% year-over-year and exceeds the pre-pandemic record of robot installations in 2018 by 22%. Today, the stock of operational robots around the globe hits a new record of about 3.5 million units. “The use of robotics and automation is growing at a breathtaking speed,” said Marina Bill, president of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). “Within six years, annual robot installations more than doubled. According to our…

A new report by the International Federation of Robotics has found that the industrial robotics market in the People’s Republic of China is on the rise. The federation recorded 243,300 installations in the country in 2021. That’s a record and a 44% rise compared to 2020. “China was leading the global recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic and accounted for half of worldwide robot installations in 2021,” said Marina Bill, president of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), in a statement. The county has been the world’s largest industrial robot market since at least 2013. Chinese government bullish on automation China’s…

…“ESG continues to be an important trend,” said Kaczmarek. “Robots can reduce waste, particularly on the transport side. An AutoStore robot consumes less electricity than a vacuum cleaner, for example.” “Lastly, automation can help fuel revenue growth, which is often not what people think of first,” he said. “Companies that automate could be six times more likely to generate greater than 15% growth than those that don't.” Robotics to ride out 'headwinds' Robotics 24/7 has tracked more than $19.2 billion in robotics-related transactions so far this year. Even though the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) and the Association for Advancing…

…The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation has said that robots will dramatically reshape global supply chains and determine the productivity growth of multiple industries, including plastics. Robot density, or the number of robots per 10,000 workers, is approaching 200 in the U.S., according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). Robot density is increasing worldwide, as increasingly sophisticated software, robots, and additive manufacturing make production quicker and more efficient. The software development journey typically starts with the creation of the user interface portion, as outlined by Maryville University. Programmers eventually move on to craft the code that processes, analyzes, and…

…of layoffs and shutdowns. At the same time, however, robot sales, funding, and demand continue to set records. What's really going on? The setbacks included the following: Argo AI LLC—This Pittsburgh-based autonomous driving developer announced last week that it is was laying off 150 employees, about 5% of its global workforce of more than 2,000 people, according to TechCrunch. Ford Motor Co. and others have invested in Argo AI, which last year launched self-driving deliveries with Walmart Inc. in Miami; Austin, Texas; and Washington, D.C. The company this week said it will shut down its operations in Washington, D.C. Chowbotics…

…probably one of the first robotic piece-picking pilots “The robots are coming – Part I.” So, a little guidance on best practices in the selection and use of a piece-picking robotics fulfillment system may be appreciated. Piece-picking robots are no cookie-cutter answer, even if they may look like one to the untrained eye. As Simon Kalouche, founder of Nimble put it, “No one wants to automate and lose throughput in the process.” That may sound silly, but it has happened. We talked to several experts in piece-picking robots and asked their advice on best practices for success with these latest…
