Numerous vendors have offered mobile robots using ultraviolet light to disinfect surfaces, but such systems must limit human exposure and take enough time to kill most pathogens. As disinfection robots spread from hospital rooms to airports, shopping malls, and other public spaces, the market is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 36.4% in the next few years, reaching $2.3 billion by 2025, predicts Research and Markets.
Other disinfection robots at CES 2021 include the CLOi (“Chloe”) from LG Electronics, the UVC robot from Unipin, and Innovation Award winner Coro-Bot from Hills Engineering.
Ubtech said its Adibot-A is designed to quickly clean larger spaces such as schools, warehouses, or gyms. The UV robot can be remotely controlled with an app, and it will be available in May for $40,000. The Adibot-S, a non-autonomous model, is available now at half that price.
