Automate provided an opportunity to see how wireless charging technology for mobile robots has continued to improve. During the show, Wiferon displayed its new etaLINK 1000 wireless charging system designed for smaller robots, along with its systems designed for larger robots.
“At Automate, we have a mix of potential users, and robot builders,” Mattheiu Ebert, Wiferon’s vice president for North America, told Robotics 24/7. “We are pitching our solution to OEMs because they are looking for components, but we are also introducing this technology to end users who are using robots and are not satisfied with the existing charging technology.”
The company’s systems use inductive charging technology to power up both AMRs and AGVs. Wiferon said its systems allow for the “intermediate charging of batteries” because they don’t require robots to be plugged in or interact with sliding contacts. One system can also be used to charge multiple robots, according to Ebert.
