FANUC exhibited a wide range of systems at Automate this year, including two new additions in its cobot lines. The CRX-25iA and the CR-35iB have payload capacities of 30 kg (66 lb.) and 50 kg (110 lb.), respectively.
With new models that can handle higher payloads, FANUC said it has expanded its cobot line to keep up with demands of customers, which are increasingly requesting robots that can handle tasks such as palletizing and welding.
At the show, FANUC showed two CRX-25iA robots in action. One was handling a 30 kg kettleball, and the other was being used as part of welding workcell to demonstrate it payload and reach, which is 1,889 mm (74.3 in.)
The CRB-35iB was used to complete to locate and pick castings on pallets and place them on a shelf, which was meant to simulate an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS), according to FANUC.
FANUC was also the sponsor of Automate’s Education Pavilion, which featured hands-on demonstrations put on by over a dozen schools. The demos focused on the company’s robots and CNC education.
“FANUC America is leading the way by creating robotic and CNC pathways that align industry talent needs with educational programs at more than 1,500 schools across the nation,” Paul Aiello, FANUC’s executive director for education, said in a statement.
