TAILOS Inc. last week announced that it has launched TAILOS Swarm, which it said enables multiple robots to work independently and clean large spaces. The Austin, Texas-based company claimed that its technology can deliver deep cleaning in a fraction of the time of more manual processes. It said that hotels across the U.S. are adopting TAILOS Swarm.
“This is a game-changer for TAILOS and a dream come true,” said Micah Green, founder and CEO of TAILOS. “Our team is leading the robotics revolution, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.”
Founded as “Maidbot” in a dorm room at Cornell University, TAILOS has developed autonomous systems for the hospitality and industrial cleaning industries. The company's team includes rocket scientists and robotics engineers who have worked for organizations including NASA, Dell, Apple, iFly, Flextronics, and the Southwest Resarch Institute.
TAILOS said that its robots can free humans from dull, dirty, and dangerous tasks, allowing them to focus on more meaningful and enjoyable work.
TAILOS Swarm gets good reception
Green said he was inspired to start TAILOS after his experiences as a room attendant at a hotel, where he saw the challenges of housekeeping firsthand.
TAILOS Swarm can not only increase cleaning efficiency, but also enhance the guest experience, said the company. The Rosie robots have been popular with guests so far, and housekeepers are “thrilled” with the cleaning times, according to users.
“Multiple robots in our large areas will get them clean much faster,” said Fred Isaacs, director of rooms at MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.
TAILOS has partnered with hospitality and venture capital companies. In June 2022, Melonee Wise, founder of mobile robot provider Fetch Robotics —now part of Zebra Technologies— joined the company's board of directors.
“TAILOS' robotic vacuum system is user-friendly and easy to use, with an intuitive interface that anyone can pick up and start using with ease,” said TAILOS. “No setup, mapping, or integration is required. Simply 'Press Play, Walk Away,' and let the vacuum handle the dull, dirty, and mundane tasks.”
“With TAILOS Swarm, customers can achieve higher efficiency, enhanced cleanliness, and improved guest satisfaction scores,” the company added.
