ResGreen Group has signed a contract with an automotive supplier for its 5,000 lb.-capacity BigBuddy automated guided vehicles and BotWay traffic management software.

ResGreen Group International Inc. yesterday said it has signed a new contract with a top automotive supplier to manufacture, integrate, and install its BigBuddy automated guided vehicles, or AGVs, and BotWay traffic management software.

BigBuddy will deliver full pods on a customized load-handling frame from an assembly-line station to the staging area. The AGV will then return an empty pod to the station, said the Shelby Township, Mich.-based company.

“ResGreen is on a streak of sales success, adding another large contract in the second quarter,” said Parsh Patel, ResGreen CEO, in a statement. “Customers are impressed with our cost-effective products that are exceedingly robust and easy to install and maintain, as well as our dedicated customer service.”

BigBuddy to automate cart movement

Currently, workers at the automotive supplier manually move carts to and from assembly stations and staging areas. BigBuddy will automate this process, reducing non-valued-added tasks and creating a safer environment, said ResGreen.

The company claimed that the bi-directional BigBuddy, which it launched last month, is “one of the most robust AGVs in the industry” and that it can move loads up to 5,000 lb. (2,267.9 kg).

With the new automated system, when a pod is full, an associate will push ResGreen’s wireless button, signaling that a full cart needs to be picked up. Next, BotWay will direct BigBuddy to where the full load is located, explained the company.

When BigBuddy reaches the staging area, BotWay will update the staging software to alert a fork truck driver that there is a full pod. The driver can then exchange the full pod on BigBuddy with an empty pod and update the status on BotWay using a mobile tablet, ResGreen explained.

About ResGreen

ResGreen Group provides of materials handling automation, including interoperable software, AGVs, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and industrial devices. The company noted that its products are both Wi-Fi and LoRa-compatible for flexible communication.

ResGreen added that its team of experienced engineers use the Internet of Things (IoT), the MQTT protocol, and the Robot Operating System (ROS) to design technologies that interface with a wide variety of automated equipment, electronic components, and software.

Last month, ResGreen said that a Tier 1 automotive supplier had awarded it a $450,000 contract to provide 10 BigBuddy AGVs and its BotWay traffic management software. The robots will use an in-floor opportunity-charging system for continuous operation, it said.

ResGreen said its PullBuddy AGV, LilBuddy AMR and BotWay software alleviate labor shortages and increase productivity.
