Pronto announced that it is showcasing its Autonomous Haulage System this week at at ConExpo-Con/AGG 2023. The construction trade show is Las Vegas from March 14 to 18.
“Visit Pronto to understand how autonomous haulage fits into your operation,” stated Anthony Levandowski, CEO of Pronto. “Pronto is bringing the long-proven benefits of AHS to a far broader set of mining, quarry, and heavy civil operations that have previously lacked access to this transformative technology.”
Levandowski previously co-founded Google's self-driving car program, later rebranded as Waymo, and he co-founded Otto, which was later sold to Uber Technologies.
AHS designed for dynamic applications
Founded in 2018, Pronto is led by autonomous vehicle and robotics pioneers and veterans. It claimed that it is “the first and only company whose technology has successfully completed a coast-to-coast autonomous drive without a single human driver input.”
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Pronto said its AHS was originally designed for highly unpredictable on-road applications. It was tested in the harshest off-road conditions, said the company.
The technology can unlock consistent production while improving labor productivity, according to Pronto. By providing situational awareness, accurately detecting obstacles, and allowing for drive by wire and emergency stop, AHS can improve safety, it said.
The software also includes access control, fleet performance and location monitoring, individual truck metrics, and source and destination selection, said Pronto.
Pronto and Bell share booth
At the trade show, Pronto will display its system on a Bell B45E articulated dump truck in the Bell Trucks America Inc. (BTA) booth, No. F9645. Pronto and BTA last year delivered what they claimed were “the world's first commercial non-ultra class AHS deployments.”
“We are excited to partner with Pronto to showcase AHS on Bell's trucks, which is now a reality,” said Neville Paynter, president of Bell Trucks America. “Pronto's AHS is easy to integrate and built to deliver safety and productivity improvements at a price point that meets the demands of our customers.”
A group of seasoned equipment professionals founded Bell Trucks America in 2012 as the master distributor of Bell Articulated Off-Road Dump Trucks in the U.S. and Mexico. Houston-based BTA said it is building a dealer network in these two countries and then supporting the Bell products and dealers with parts, service, and warranty support.
