This week at Computex 2023, NVIDIA mentioned Orbbec Inc. as a partner. Orbbec today announced that it has worked with NVIDIA and Microsoft to develop the Femto Mega RGB+Depth camera, a high-performance vision sensor for sectors such as robotics, industrial automation, and healthcare.
“We are excited to announce that Orbbec is in the process of integrating the Femto Mega and other cameras with the ecosystem surrounding NVIDIA Omniverse, an open development platform for building and operating metaverse applications,” said the company in a release. “This move will enable customers using NVIDIA Isaac Sim, a robotics simulation toolkit, to swiftly design their vision systems, enhancing the realism and precision of AI system design and testing.”
Orbbec said claimed that it is a pioneer in 3D visual perception technology and a “full-stack” developer platform for robotics and artificial intelligence.
In April, the Shenzhen, China-based company said its AI-Aided SDK Programming Guide will enable software developers to easily create code through natural-language interactions with ChatGPT.
Orbbec integrates with Isaac ROS
Orbbec said it is also working on integrating its products into the NVIDIA Isaac ROS platform, a toolkit for AI-powered robots. Once completed, this integration will empower developers to build more capable robots using Orbbec's sensors, the company explained.
Beyond the Femto Mega, Orbbec also offers industrial-grade RGB+Depth cameras to meet the stringent demands of industrial clients. These cameras deliver superior performance and reliability, making them ideal for a wide range of applications, it asserted.
Not only is Orbbec a leading vision hardware supplier for intelligent robots, but it said it also working closely with the NVIDIA Omniverse platform to drive innovation in automation.
The company, whose U.S. headquarters are in Troy, Mich., invited technology enthusiasts and developers to explore on its website the possibilities with its advanced vision sensors for AI and robotics projects.
