Robots typically have difficulty in extremely tight spaces, but a combination of lightweight robots and application expertise is tackling that challenge. Kassow Robots ApS, which has developed seven-axis collaborative robots, last week said it has partnered with BlueBay Automation LLC, an integrator of industrial automation.
“Our broad product portfolio of seven-axis cobots and BlueBay Automation’s integration capabilities and extensive robot experience will help customers combat common industrial challenges, such as difficult retrofits, labor shortages, and continuous improvement efforts,” said Dieter Pletscher, head of global sales at Kassow Robots.
Kassow said its cobots will help BlueBay customers with applications including palletizing, welding, and packaging for light manufacturing, automotive, and electronics.
Kassow KR cobots have long reach
Kastrup, Denmark-based Kassow Robotics said its line of five seven-axis collaborative robots offers speed, power, and a long reach. The company added that its cobots, plus simple programming techniques, can help customers and integrators quickly and cost-efficiently automate complex tasks in machine tending, material handling, general automation, and related applications.
The KR series provides a reach of about 3 to 6 ft. (850 to 1,800 mm) and payloads around 11 to 40 lb. (5 to 18 kg) to automate a variety of physically demanding and/or repetitive tasks. In addition, each joint offers speed of 225 degrees per second to keep up with pick-and-place tasks, quality inspection, and palletizing.
Kassow said its seventh axis and flexibile software enable continuous dispensing, welding, and material removal regardless of access angle, without the need to reorient the arm.
Kristian Kassow founded Kassow Robotics in 2018. Bosch Rexroth became majority owner of the company last month, but Kristian Kassow is still co-owner and CEO.
BlueBay serves southeastern U.S.
Kassow said its cobots are suitable for limited-space retrofits and are a strong addition to BlueBay’s flexible automation, robotics, motion control, and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
