Honeywell Intelligrated partners with Berkshire Grey and Tompkins Robotics

Full-service automation provider Honeywell Intelligrated recently announced partnerships with Berkshire Grey and Tompkins Robotics. 

Honeywell will provide software, and cybersecurity, and integration knowledge, including its Momentum Warehouse Execution Software (WES), to the companies. Honeywell also recently announced a partnership with HAI Robotics to integrate Momentum WES into its automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).

Intelligent fulfillment for Berkshire Grey picking and sortation systems

Honeywell is teaming up with AI-enabled robotics company Berkshire Grey to deliver automated robotic sortation and picking systems for retail, distribution and fulfillment operations.  The collaboration integrates Berkshire Grey's robotics technology portfolio with Honeywell's Momentum WES and cybersecurity capabilities.

Berkshire Grey’s robotic systems include robotic shuttle put walls, sortation systems, and pick cells, which can automate repetitive, manual processes like item sortation for returns or store replenishment and picking. Honeywell said when coupled with its robotics integration knowledge, these systems offer customers improved throughput capacity, labor efficiency and order accuracy.

Berkshire Grey’s Robotic Picking systems feature wide SKU coverage, combining AI and patented gripping technology for fast and precise packing directly into outbound containers. Its robotic product-sortation systems can increase order fulfillment by up to four times without additional labor, while the company’s robotic put wall can handle 50% more volume in 25% of the space. 

Honeywell said its 30+ years of experience in supply chain automation technology, deep robotics integration expertise, and cybersecurity strengths complement Berkshire Grey’s systems, enabling customers to significantly lower operational costs across their facilities and deliver exceptional single-point customer service.

Flexible integration for Tompkins Robotics AMRs

Honeywell has also joined forces with autonomous mobile robot (AMR) provider Tompkins Robotics.

Honeywell said its new partnership will bring speed, efficiency and reliability to a wide range of distribution and fulfillment operations. The alliance integrates Tompkins’ technology with Honeywell's software and cybersecurity acumen and decades of experience integrating robotic systems into warehouse automation systems. 

“Honeywell and Tompkins Robotics together can bring unique benefits to customers, whether they are performing in-store replenishment or eCommerce order fulfillment,” said Fisher. “Customers will gain modular and flexible robotics options to help them increase speed and throughput of their operations as well as sophisticated analytics with Honeywell’s Momentum Warehouse Execution Software to run their businesses optimally.”

Tompkins has more than 30,000 robots, such as its tSort and PickPal AMRs, and more than 300 installations at companies across the globe. Honeywell said Tompkins’ AMRs enable businesses to use space effectively, from small back-of-store operations to large distribution centers, and deploy automation rapidly. 

They also make it easy for companies to scale quickly as they take on more orders or change configurations based on the needs of different spaces, said Honeywell. Across retail, pharmaceutical, wholesale, returns, and package handling, Tompkins' uses robotic intelligence to speed up sortation and order fulfillment processes, allowing products to reach customers with greater speed.
