As demand grows for robots in warehouses worldwide, some vendors are actively pursuing new markets. Geekplus Technology Co. last week announced that it has established formal agreements with more than 50 integrators to accelerate its international expansion.
“Our network of integrators is an extremely valuable part of our success,” stated Lit Fung, vice president and managing director of international business at Geek+. “We view each robot deployed by our partners as a vote of confidence in our technology. Their extensive experience makes them ideally positioned to deliver large-scale robotics projects to customers and enable Geek+ to accelerate our business growth.”
Founded in 2015, Geek+ claimed to be “the global leader” in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). The company said that over 500 companies trust its AMRs and artificial intelligence for warehouse, logistics, and supply chain management.
Beijing-based Geek+ provides smart forklifts, sortation systems, goods-to-person (G2P) picking robots, storage and ground-picking systems, and totes-to-person robots, as well as collaborative AMRs and software. It offers them through a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) model.
The company has more than 1,500 employees, with offices in Germany, the U.K., the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Last month, Geek+ raised $100 million (U.S.) in Series E1 funding to continue its global expansion.
Geek+ follows global mobile robot growth
More than 100,000 automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and AMRs shipped globally last year, according to Interact Analysis. It noted that AMR shipments surpassed those of AGVs and that China and the U.S. are leading markets for mobile robots. In addition, the firm predicted that 2.1 million mobile robots will ship by the end of 2025.
The global market for mobile robots could expand from $13.56 billion in 2021 to $77.98 billion in 2030 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.1%, estimated Next Move Strategy Consulting.
Geek+ said its growing global network will help it meet the increasing demand for warehouse robots in the U.S. and Europe, in addition to South Korea and new developments in South America.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Geek+ has a long history of collaboration with integrators such as Ally Logistic Property (ALP) and Unitech Automation. In 2020, the company said it delivered 13.19 million orders during the Single's Day shopping holiday with 5,500 robots and 99.99% accuracy. At the time, Geek+ said it had deployed more than 10,000 robots worldwide.
Across Europe, Lalesse Logistics Solutions, Breathe Technologies, and AMH Material Handling have deployed the company's systems. It recently opened new regional headquarters in the U.K. and named Brian Lee the new head of Geek+ Europe and U.K.
Geek+ today also announced that it has teamed up with SystemTeknik Logistics for deploying its AMRs in Scandinavia.
Geek+ adds partners in the Americas
Earlier this year, Geek+ recognized top integrator partners for their commitment with awards. Since then, the company has named more than 10 new partners. It said that list will continue to grow as several large-scale projects are implemented in Europe and the U.S.
Multinational group Körber Supply Chain has worked extensively with Geek+ around the world, with landmark projects in the U.S. and a new cooperation in Brazil.
Last month, Geek+ announced Numina Group as its latest North American systems integrator partner. Numina joined other partners in the Americas, including KPI Integrated Solutions, Bosch Rexroth, Boreal Technologies, Conveyco Technologies, and Systemex Automation.
