GeekPlus Technology Co. and Bosch Rexroth AG yesterday said they have signed a channel agreement for North America. The partners have already augmented Geek+'s MP1000R mobile robot with Bosch Rexroth's ROKIT Locator laser localization software.
“The signing of this North American strategic channel agreement with Geek+ is another milestone in the cooperation between our two companies,” stated Armando Gonzalez, business leader for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and robotics at Bosch Rexroth. “From cooperation in product development to cooperation in the channel market, we firmly believe that our two companies' innovativeness and expansion strength will be increased.”
Lohr am Main, Germany-based Bosch Rexroth is a global supplier of electric drive and control technologies. The company, whose U.S. headquarters are in Charlotte, N.C., has experience with mobile applications, machinery, and engineering. It also offers hydraulics, factory automation, and gears. Bosch Rexroth also provides linear motion and assembly technology, software, and Internet of Things (IoT) interfaces.
Bosch Rexroth has locations in more than 80 countries and more than 29,600 associates. It reported sales revenue of about €5.2 billion ($5.7 billion U.S.) in 2020.
Bosch Rexroth to use SLAM-guided AMRs
The global market for AMRs could grow from $1.61 billion in 2021 to $22.15 billion by 2030 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 34.3%, forecast Research and Markets. Similarly, Absolute Reports predicted a CAGR of 29% from $1.8 billion in 2022 to a readjusted size of $85 billion by 2028.
In view of the market opportunities, Geek+ and Bosch Rexroth have agreed to facilitate resource sharing, deepen cooperation, and create smarter logistics systems for their customers.
Bosch Rexroth plans to use Geek+'s simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology with its ROKIT Locator software at its plant in Changzhou, China. The partners said they will offer systems suitable for manufacturing scenarios.
“We are very excited to unveil this new SLAM technology for AMRs jointly developed with Bosch Rexroth,” said Emil Hauch Jensen, general manager for smart moving and forklift products in overseas business at Geek+. “The partnership will provide our customers with several products and solutions to accelerate the implementation of intelligent moving robots that will drive the intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry.”
Geek+ looks forward
Beijing-based Geek+ plans to continue implementing its ecosystem strategy and working closely with partners. The company said it will promote the intelligent transformation of supply chain operations around the world, empowering global customers to respond quickly to market demands and promote business growth.
Founded in 2015, Geek+ said it applies robotics and artificial intelligence to realize flexible, reliable, and highly efficient solutions for warehouses. The company said it has more than 500 global customers for its AMRs. It has over 1,500 employees and offices in Germany, the U.K., the U.S., Japan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong, and Singapore.
