FORTNA, which provides conveyors, robots, and sortation systems, said its new center will provide expertise on automating last-mile delivery.

Supply chains need to innovate to ensure fast and reliable deliveries to customers. FORTNA this week announced its Last Mile Solution Center, which will support parcel and distribution businesses in automating last-mile operations.

The Atlanta-based company said in a release that its industry experts will help improve processes, increase productivity, and reduce costs.

“FORTNA is an experienced partner to our customers with a comprehensive solution portfolio and deep knowledge and understanding of their needs,” said Antonio Amadasi, vice president for the FORTNA Last Mile Solution Center.”

“The Last Mile Solution Center brings additional value to our mission and further helps to optimize downstream operations and reach positive business outcomes,” he asserted. “The team will also address any further and dedicated product improvement in order to perfectly fulfill our customers’ needs.”

Last-mile delivery becoming critical

“Downstream optimization is crucial to increasing throughput and driving cost reduction in a system,” noted FORTNA. It cited United Nations estimates that by 2030, the population living in big cities will increase by 55%, making last-mile delivery critical for logistics companies.

By optimizing downstream capabilities, companies can improve overall efficiency by reducing cycle times, optimizing processes, and using data to intelligently track parcels, according to FORTNA. Automation can help ensure a fast and reliable deliveries for consumers, it claimed.

FORTNA said it has more than 15 years of experience in last-mile automation and an installed base of more than 450 automated systems. The FORTNA Last Mile Solution Center is intended to maximize distribution networks with proven modular and bi-directional conveyors and sorters.

The center will introduce modularity and standardization of last-mile automation to help meet industry needs for scalability, flexibility, and simplified maintenance, said FORTNA. Additional benefits include a portfolio of systems designed to fit any site-specific requirements, future-proof operations, and provide built-in capability to keep pace with business growth, it said.

FORTNA said its Last Mile Solution Center will partner with parcel and distribution companies globally by offering complete network solutions, including operational design and implementation, material handling automated equipment, robotics, and a suite of lifecycle services.
