Industrial camera manufacturer Imaging Development Systems GmbH (IDS) recently announced it will demonstrate its latest machine vision products at Automate 2024 in booth 2855. The trade show will be held May 6-9 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois.
IDS will be presenting its new area scan, 3D vision, and artificial intelligence (AI) vision offerings. The company said these technologies enable users to quickly create customized image processing solutions.
This year IDS said its focus will be on the latest in 3D technology from its Ensenso product line, as well as upcoming sensor technology including event-based cameras for robotics and industrial automation automation applications.
Ensenso cameras, PartFinder module to be demonstrated
Germany-based IDS said its Ensenso C-series color 3D vision cameras address current challenges in the automation and robotics industry. Unlike other Ensenso models, the C series provides both 3D and RGB color information. The camera offers a resolution of 5 MP and is available with baselines of 240 mm or 455 mm, which IDS said allows accurate capturing of large objects with accuracy.
In addition, a cobot pick-and-place demonstration will feature an Ensenso N-series camera. IDS said the N-series camera system is specially designed for use in harsh environmental conditions. The company said a compact design means the N-series is equally suitable for 3D detection of moving and stationary objects in a space-saving stationary or mobile application on a robot arm.
Within the Ensenso software development kit (SDK), the PartFinder add-on module - which requires a license to use - is capable of locating objects. The tool offers the option of loading customer-specific CAD geometries and finding them again in the point clouds of the Ensenso 3D cameras. IDS said PartFinder is optimized for the Ensenso camera series and is integrated into the EnsensoSDK GUI tools.
