Welding is one of the fastest-growing applications for robots. OTC DAIHEN Inc. this week announced that it has produced its 1,000th production robotic welding system.
Partner Airgas Inc. sold the SERVO-ARC 720B turntable robot welder to East Manufacturing Corp. to augment its production of over-the-road trailers.
“The completion of our 1,000th pre-engineered welding system represents 20 years of advancing robotic welding solutions by the OTC DAIHEN Inc. team,” stated Todd Griffieth, general manager for technical operations at OTC DAIHEN.
OTC DAIHEN is the U.S. subsidiary of Osaka, Japan-based DAIHEN Corp. The company claimed that it is the world's No. 1 welding robotics manufacturer. Tipp City, Ohio-based OTC said it produces all the components necessary to be a single-source supplier to the metal fabrication industry.
OTC DAIHEN expands capacity
OTC DAIHEN delivers technology for manual and robotic welding to the U.S. and Canada from its headquarters in the greater Dayton, Ohio, area and from its technical centers in Detroit and Atlanta.
“With our recently expanded manufacturing assembly capacity and increased product and consumable inventory here in Ohio, we are further committed to growing our arc-welding automation solutions for all metal fabricators seeking the advantages of our exclusive welding technology,” Griffieth added.
Last year, OTC DAIHEN released the JoyPEN Joystick Pendant, its FD21 Series II robots with more than 2 m reach, and the CoboWeld MIG system using a Universal Robots UR10e collaborative robot, among other products. It will be exhibiting at Booth C11317 at FABTECH 2022 from Nov. 8 to 10 in Atlanta.
Airgas supports automation customers
“We’re proud to provide customers with support to find the best automation fit for their needs,” said Nathan Moyer, Great Lakes Region automation sales manager at Airgas. “We are excited to see how this 1000th milestone, and future units will help our customers continuously improve their productivity and bring on new, efficient ways to get the job done.”
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, supplies industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as hardgoods and related products. The Radnor, Pa.-based company is also a leading U.S. supplier of safety and ammonia products and process chemicals.
Airgas said its nearly 18,000 associates in over 1,400 locations provide reliable products, services, and expertise to more than 1 million customers. It also offers an eBusiness platform and the Airgas Total Access telesales channel.
“Our goal of automating the metal fabrication operations of our North American customers would not have achieved this success without the focused efforts and technical strengths of our Advanced Welding Partners like Airgas,” said Griffieth.
East Manufacturing makes a full line of aluminum platform, dump, and refuse trailers, and steel dump trailers and dump bodies, for the commercial vehicle, construction, agricultural and refuse markets. The Randolph, Ohio-based manufacturer said it has provided innovative standard and custom trailer products for 50 years through its network of over 70 trailer dealer locations.
